A manager should scarce to play favoritism among the employees. Manger should equally treat with all staff members; otherwise team motive will be cracked.
At the end of day, it is your right & responsibility to ask about the entire day progress, so if you point out among the others, it will make you rigid and less amicable.
In the business, treat every employee separately. Some employees are motivated through handsome salary package, some through status and some through personal value & acknowledgment. So manager should decide how he or she can motivate employees by judging the perception of staff.
